Personal extension page
Each employee runs their own line from a web page.
Why it matters
Routine changes do not need an administrator, and employees are never given more access than they need.
What it does
The personal extension page lets an employee listen to messages, record greetings, set a voicemail PIN, turn forwarding on and off, and protect their sign-in with a second step.
An employee can reach only their own line and mailbox.
How it works
- The employee follows the setup link and chooses a password.
- They sign in with their login name.
- They change their own settings; the administrator's locks still apply.
Example
An employee heading on holiday sets an away greeting and forwards calls to a colleague, without contacting anyone.
Setting it up (administrators)
- Send setup instructions from Phone and extensions.
- Use Extension access to switch on or off the voicemail, app sign-in and lists for each person.
What employees experience
- Listen to, keep, label and delete voicemail messages.
- Record a new greeting in the browser, or upload one where allowed.
- Set a voicemail PIN, turn forwarding on, change the password and turn on two-step sign-in.
- Email themselves a quick-help summary.
Works with
- Personal extension page (any web browser), used by each employee
