Emergency calling (911)
Register your address so 911 can send help.
Why it matters
You know exactly what emergency calling does and does not do before you rely on it.
What it does
Your phones can call 911 once each number's emergency address is registered and shows Ready. Calls to 911 are always connected.
IVRC is an internet-based business phone system, not a traditional telephone service. Emergency (911) calling is severely restricted and may not work during power, internet or service outages, or if your address isn't registered. Always keep another way to call 911, such as a mobile phone.
How it works
- In Emergency, confirm the address for each number.
- Accept the emergency calling notice.
- Outside calls are switched on once the address is Ready.
Example
A new office confirms its street address for its main number, then adds the same address to its other numbers with one tick.
Setting it up (administrators)
- Open Emergency and read the notice.
- Press Confirm your emergency address for each number.
- Press I confirm this address is exact and complete, then accept the notice.
What employees experience
- Employees working away from the main address set their own location from the phone app. The personal extension page carries the same notice.
Works with
- IVRC business console (any web browser), used by owners and administrators
- Personal extension page (any web browser), used by each employee
- Compatible IP desk phones and softphone apps registered to an employee's extension
