Directory and dial by name
Callers find the right person without asking the receptionist.
Why it matters
A named person gets the call straight away, and reception handles fewer routine transfers.
What it does
The phone menu can announce people by name, and callers who know an extension can enter it at any time. You decide who is announced and who is dial-only.
How it works
- The caller hears the menu.
- The caller says or enters the person's extension, or chooses from the announced names.
- The call rings that person.
Example
A caller to an engineering firm knows only that she needs Priya. The directory announces the names and she is put through.
Setting it up (administrators)
- Add people on Phone and extensions with a name that is spoken correctly.
- Mark each person as announced or dial-only.
- Use Pronunciation on the Caller ID page if a name is spoken wrongly.
What employees experience
- Employees receive the call on their extension, as with any other call.
Works with
- IVRC business console (any web browser), used by owners and administrators
- Any phone: callers need nothing but your business number
